What is “Glamping”?

Glamping is a relatively new term used to describe a “glamorous” style of camping. Our goal is to transform the way you look at the traditional primitive camping experience and bring you into the elevated glamping world of Boone Cocoon. We offer a number of unique amenities to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible.

Where is Boone Cocoon located?

We are located 5 minutes outside of downtown Boone, NC and 15 minutes from downtown Blowing Rock, NC. 

We value your privacy and want your experience with us to feel as safe as possible. For this reason, we do not show the exact address on our website. However, once you have booked with us, we will send detailed instructions on how to access the Boone Cocoon glamping site.

What is nearby?

Downtown Boone is located 5 minutes away from the Boone Cocoon campsite. You’ll find plenty of local gift shops and restaurants located on King Street in downtown Boone. There are also a number of quick-serve restaurants and grocery stores located on Highway 321.

We are a short 15 minute drive from the closest Blue Ridge Parkway access where you will find an abundance of beautiful hiking trails and overlooks to stop and admire the Appalachian mountains.

What amenities do you offer?

General Our campsite is accessible 24/7. Children are welcome. Suitable for events. Unsuitable for elderly wheelchair inaccessible.

Sleeping The Boone Cocoon is a hanging pod (10 ft. in diameter) accessed by a secure hanging bridge. The pod hangs 8ft. above the ground. 

Inside the Cocoon, there is a comfortable circular mattress that spans the entire floor of the pod. The mattress is topped with an all-weatherproof cover.

We recommend that you bring your own sleeping bags & pillows.

Private Deck We have provided a charcoal BBQ grill, Solo Stove, cooler, 2 deck chairs, dining table with chairs, a small trash can, and 2 personal kayaks to use during your stay.

Parking There is private parking available at the gravel lot located at the base of the campsite. Be careful to stay clear of the drop off on the left.

Power and Lights There is no power available at the site. Two BioLite BaseLantern  are provided, which power a daisy-chain lantern system and charge phones and other devices so you get the most from your off-grid energy. You can expect 3 hours of light from one biolite. Learn how to use the BioLite.

We provide headlamps. Bring flashlights.

Water A gallon of drinking water is provided per day. Non-potable, running water is available through a hand washing sink at the shower site.

Bathroom There is a porta-potty restroom on site, just a short walk from the Cocoon. We have lights set up on the trails and offer head-lamps to make the walk easier for you. A portable toilet is also available for use.

Cooking We offer cooking utensils, cutting boards, mixing bowls, grill, water cooler.

Fire A firewood bundle is provided to use with our Solo Stove Fireplace. You may bring extra wood if you wish.

Safety Boone Cocoon is set in the forest on the side of a mountain. We have cleared pathways and laid turf, but there are still tripping hazards like roots, stumps, and graveled roads. Be alert and watch your step at all times. 

We provide a first aid kit & fire extinguisher.

What should we bring for our stay?

We recommend that you bring your own sleeping bags, pillows, water bottles, rain gear, ice for the cooler, groceries for meals on site, and a comfortable backpack to haul your items from the parking lot to the pod.

Is there a bathroom or shower on site?

Yes. There is a private bathroom located on site, just a short walk from the Cocoon. As of right now, we are unable to offer a shower.

Is Boone Cocoon family friendly?

Very! We encourage you to bring your family along for the Boone Cocoon experience. There’s plenty of room in the pod to snuggle up with your kiddos and enjoy a relaxing stay away from home.

Is Boone Cocoon pet friendly?

While we would love to host your furry friends, we are currently not allowing pets in our Cocoons due to pet-allergy and cleanliness reasons for our future guests. However, we may be able to work with you under special circumstances. Feel free to send us a message with any pet-related inquiries and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

What is the cancellation policy at Boone Cocoon?

50% of paid prepayments are refundable when cancelled 14 days before arrival or earlier. 

0% refundable if cancelled after.

Can we take/post pictures?

Absolutely! We encourage you to share your Boone Cocoon adventures with us and your friends. Feel free to take pictures throughout your stay and be sure to tag us on Instagram and Facebook - @boonecocoon #boonecocoon.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check in: 4:00 pm

Check out: 11:00 am

Does the Cocoon have heat or A/C?

The Cocoon does not have heat or A/C. We do provide a small fan to use inside the pod during your stay. See average temperatures in our area.

Is the Cocoon weather/waterproof?

Yes. Our Cocoons are fully weatherproof and will keep you safe and dry through the elements.

Is smoking allowed on the Boone Cocoon site?

No. There is no smoking allowed inside or near the Cocoon. However, if you do need to smoke, we encourage you to do so at our gravel parking lot located at the base of the Cocoon site.
